In 2016 and 2017 English language productions were brought to the historic Filodrammatici Theatre, located next to the Scala Opera House, in 2018 to the Litta Theatre in Magenta, and in 2019 to the newly renovated and beautiful Gerolamo theatre in Piazza Beccaria – located just next to the magnificent Cathedral of Milan. J. Productions looks forward to bringing ‘new off the block’ productions as well as classic shows to Milan.
Shows have included The Devil’s Passion written and performed by acclaimed British playwright, Justin Butcher (Teatro Filodrammatici), Shylock by Gareth Armstrong performed by superb actor, Guy Masterson-Mastroianni (Teatro Filodrammatici) and Robert Louis Stevenson’s Jekyll & Hyde – a one man show adaptation for schools, by Justin Butcher, performed by top quality British actor, Rupert Mason.
The 2019 November program at the Gerolamo Theatre, From the Edinburgh Fringe, conceived and brought to stage with English Theatre Milan included the award winning productions Scaramouche Jones written and performed by Justin Butcher and My Darling Clemmie written by Hugh Whitemore, directed by Gareth Armstrong and performed by Rohan McCullough.
In 2021 to mark the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri, J.Productions organized an amazing 24- hour Marathon reading in the English language (with surtitles in Italian) of the entire Divine Comedy at Cinema La Compagnia in Florence including a splendid star-studded cast. This event is still available for viewing on www.Stream.Theatre.com
A ‘mini-version’ of the Speaking Dante show – with a team of five English and Italian actors – was staged at to the beautiful Filodrammatici Theatre, Milan in December 2021.
